Compulsory insurance is essential when driving your vehicle. Not having compulsory insurance is considered an offence by the Department of Motor Vehicles and, in the event of an incident, the driver is open to legal claims that could be significant in the event of any personal harm to third parties.


Fines for driving without compulsory insurance can be as high as €1,000 and can be accompanied by a withdrawal of your driving licence and/or the corresponding loss of points. The police may also seize your vehicle if they consider it appropriate.

Inform the company as soon as possible, within seven days of the event. This way we will be able to carry out all the required administrative steps as efficiently as possible.

You must send us any notifications you receive, as well as the Joint accident report , if there is one. If your car has been stolen, you must report it to the authorities immediately.

Third party + windscreen

@utomatic Third party plus windscreen includes all coverage included in Basic third party: compulsory and voluntary public liability, legal defence and claims for damages, driver protection, and the following specific coverage:

Main coverage

We guarantee the repair or replacement of your vehicle's windscreen and windows in cases of total or partial breakage. This coverage is inclusive of sunroofs and specialist glass (tinted, polarised, printed, or heat reflecting windows).

Third party plus windscreen also gives you the flexibility to choose optional coverage, meaning you can design an insurance policy that best fits your needs:

  • Replacement vehicle: you will get 'basic' cover: we will provide you with a replacement car for 7 days in the event of breakdown or accident. Alternatively you can choose the 'extended' type, with a maximum of 30 days.
  • Legal & administrative service: we will manage and cover all the costs associated with getting duplicates of your vehicle's documentation. We also take care of the documentation involved when buying, selling, or de-registering your vehicle.
  • The best advice: benefit from our psychological support service over the telephone if you have been involved in an accident, also available in-person. We also offer mechanical advice over the telephone and advice on maintenance issues relating to your vehicle.

 

Extended third party

Our @utomatic extended third party insurance includes all the coverage in Basic third party and Third party plus windscreen, consisting of compulsory and voluntary public liability, legal defence and claims for damages, driver protection, windscreens and windows, travel assistance, legal advice helpline, and defence for traffic offences. This type of insurance also broadens the scope of the guarantees, giving you more complete protection:

Main coverage

In the event of a fire or explosion you will be covered for all material damages to the car. This coverage encompasses all fire damage whether the vehicle is in transit or parked.

More information on your insurance

@utomatic extended third party insurance also comes with additional guarantees you can add to your policy, giving you protection suited to your needs:

  • Replacement vehicle: in the event of breakdown or accident, we will provide you with a replacement car for 7 days if you choose the basic type, and for 30 days if you choose the extended type.
  • Total loss: if you have a collision or crash, or your car overturns or falls, of if your car suffers damage for which the cost of repairs would be in excess of the value of the car, you are guaranteed to receive compensation to the value of the car.

  • Damage due to a collision: caused by another vehicle or a domestic or hunting animal.

  • Damage due to weather: such as that caused by lightning, wind, hail, or similar.

  • Legal & administrative service: in the event of an accident we will manage and cover all the costs associated with getting duplicates of your vehicle documentation. We also offer assistance with buying, selling, or deregistering your car.

  • The best advice: we offer a psychological support service over the telephone or in person if you have been involved in an accident in your vehicle. We also offer mechanical advice over the telephone and advice on maintenance issues relating to your car.
